Dangal- A heartfelt movie for me!

A man making his daughters chase his dreams…which eventually becomes their dream too after they realize they want to stay away from instant marriage and a husband who would deprive them of their identity, passion and dream…or the husband who would deprive them of being themselves…or whatever the village lifestyles they showed or they were too young to talk about, dream, passion….and they would spend rest of their lives doing household chores. (we shouldn’t variably deprive them of their passion, dream and their identity)

But he stands by them and wishes to see them win at every stage…Mahavir Singh Phogat believed in his daughters and their ability to accomplish…

I vividly remember few quotes and instances from the movie that captured my attention…one being when the father explains his wife saying…“Gold toh gold hota hai, chora lavey ya chori” (a gold medal in sports is a gold medal, whether a girl wins it or a boy)….it’s amazing how devoid the already existing gender equality debate in the state of Haryana…he believed in his daughters ability to become world class wrestlers and win gold prize for the country…when you have a goal to achieve…I believe nothing should get in the way of your focus and if it does…get past it anyway and move ahead…

I was floored after watching Dangal and was reminded of my relationship with my father which made me cry.

When I saw how she revolted against her father, it reminded me of how I too used to revolt against my father for all the things he did and also the times when I fought with him like crazy….this really brought tears of repentance and made me realize that I could never accept my father the way he was….

But he had brought a lot of himself into me always in good and bad…..

My father was as crazily in love with me as all fathers are about their daughters.  And he did so much for me even till his last days.

I learnt basic business ethics from him, day in and day out….things to be done and not to be done ….and the streak of anger or some old ideas that I have still belong to him…some being good for eg. Meeting 3 vendors and take quotes before deciding to purchase….some being horrendous like…”don’t trust anybody, everyone is out there to cheat you.

There is no business or an organisation that anyone can run, if there is no trust and love and more so I think Baggit as an organisation and me going to factory just 2 days in a week, that too doing most of my meetings in the gym, speaks about how I really run the organisation.

Just start off….a lot left to the HOD, to their judgment….Understanding…obviously with me always and all of us actually, looking at customer centricity.

Also what he left with me is my streak of anger, which I till today I am working on… and will work on in this life time and surpass it for sure……if  that’s the only thing I have achieved,  but that one I would surely as I see myself improved year on year….. month on month…

Women are not weak…the movie portrays that well…they are capable of achieving what they set for themselves…also female empowerment is not the job of a woman alone……it is the support of all men too…actually everyone, including boys, mother-in-laws and the society as a whole, should take action against the barriers women and girls face over the world…

After movies like #Lagaan, #PK and now #Dangal, Aamir Khan has again brought alive all these inspirational aspects with his extraordinary performance ofcourse…hats off! Look forward to many more exciting and thrilling movies that touch the heart and provide solutions to real issues of India…
